The North Hollywood High School Team A has emerged victorious in the 33rd Annual LADWP Regional Science Bowl Competition, which took place on March 8, 2025. This impressive win means that the talented team will represent Los Angeles at the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., this coming April. Competition Details

This year, more than 67 high school champions from various regions will compete at the national level, with a proud cohort of eight teams from California stepping into the arena. The LADWP Science Bowl has been a cherished event since 1993, and many past regional championship teams have gone on to seize national titles. Notably, both North Hollywood High School and Venice High School have proudly claimed national championships in previous years.

Rewards and Recognition

The members of the triumphant North Hollywood High School Team A are not just taking home bragging rights; they will each receive a generous $1,250 Hitachi Scholarship. Their school will also benefit from a $3,000 donation for its Science Department along with the prestigious Melinda Rho Memorial Trophy. This trophy carries a special significance as it is named in memory of a beloved former LADWP employee who dedicated over 25 years to the Science Bowl.

Other Winning Teams

Let’s not forget the impressive performances from other schools as well. The Harvard-Westlake High School Team A snagged second place, with each team member awarded a $1,000 scholarship and the school receiving $2,500. North Hollywood High School Team B came in third, while The Science Academy STEM Magnet Team A followed closely in fourth place.

This was truly a test of ingenuity! The Abraham Lincoln Senior High School Team B took home the first-place Franklin Lu Hands-On Trophy, with each member receiving a $750 scholarship. The runners-up included Francisco Bravo Medical Magnet High School Team B in second place, while El Camino Real Charter High School Team B and Granada Hills Charter High School Team B secured third and fourth places, respectively.

Event Support and Team Spirit
