News Summary

The Tesla Diner officially opened in Los Angeles, attracting long lines of patrons eager to experience its unique dining concept. Located near West Hollywood, the diner features an innovative menu, carhop service, and the ability to order from vehicles. With a striking design and tech-driven atmosphere, it aims to redefine the dining experience for both food lovers and electric vehicle owners. Although the food received mixed reviews on opening day, the diner is set to become a popular destination for its futuristic blend of dining and technology.

Los Angeles – The Tesla Diner officially opened its doors in Los Angeles on July 21, 2025, at 4:20 p.m., attracting long lines of enthusiastic patrons eager to experience this innovative dining concept. Located on Santa Monica Boulevard near the West Hollywood border, the diner quickly became a buzzworthy destination, with many fans waiting for hours to sample the restaurant’s futuristic menu.

Designed by Stantec, the Tesla Diner features a striking two-level structure with approximately 3,800 square feet of indoor space and an impressive 5,500 square feet of outdoor seating. The establishment is not just about food; it aims to create an immersive environment for diners and electric vehicle (EV) owners alike. The diner can accommodate over 100 vehicles and includes 32 Supercharger stalls, with future plans to expand this number to 75.

A unique aspect of the Tesla Diner is its integration of technology into the dining experience. In-car ordering capabilities allow drivers to place their orders from inside their vehicles while parked or charging within a 15- to 20-minute range. The diner boasts “Sonic-style carhop service,” enabling patrons to dine in their cars while being served by roller skate-wearing carhops.

Complementing the tech-driven atmosphere, the diner showcases two large 45-foot LED screens that display classic films, creating a drive-in movie experience that can be enjoyed from the parking area. Among the unique features of the dining experience is the use of Cybertruck-shaped boxes for serving food, further emphasizing the diner’s futuristic flair.

The diner’s kitchen is helmed by Chef Eric Greenspan, a notable figure in the Los Angeles culinary scene. Partnered with operator Bill Chait, the duo has crafted a menu that includes classic American fare such as tuna melts, cheeseburgers, and breakfast items. While the first day’s food quality received a mixed reception—some dishes were praised, while others faced criticism—the overall ambition remains clear: to deliver “epic” food consistent with CEO Elon Musk’s vision.

In addition to traditional menu items, diners can choose from a selection of drinks, including experimental “Charged Sodas” and hand-spun milkshakes. The mixed reviews from the opening day did not deter the enthusiasm from fans who flocked to the diner for a chance to experience the unique blend of technology and dining.

Adding to the restaurant’s futuristic ambiance, a humanoid robot named Optimus interacts with diners by serving popcorn and offering fist bumps, further enriching the high-tech theme of the Tesla Diner. Moreover, customers can purchase themed merchandise, including Tesla-branded clothing and novelty items, leaning into the company’s innovative culture.

The diner is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, making it accessible to all, including casual diners and dedicated Tesla vehicle owners. The opening of the Tesla Diner aligns with Musk’s discussions about expanding this concept to major cities around the globe, should the initial establishment prove successful.

With the operations now underway, Tesla positions the diner as a model for future charging stations that incorporate dining features, redefining the interaction between food and electric vehicles. As patrons look forward to enjoying their meals in this cutting-edge environment, the Tesla Diner is set to become a staple location in Los Angeles and potentially beyond.
