Los Angeles Ballet Raises Over $1.2 Million at Enchanting Cinderella Gala

Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles Ballet (LAB) successfully raised over $1.2 million during its annual Gala held on May 17, 2025, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The themed event, known as the Cinderella Fairytale Ball, celebrated the company dancers and the art of ballet, while also funding important community outreach programs.

The Gala featured an exclusive preview performance of a scene from Edwaard Liang’s Cinderella, which is set to be fully presented in five performances at Dolby Theatre from June 13-15, 2025. The evening was hosted by Jennifer Grey, a Golden Globe-nominated actress, and brought together prominent figures from the arts community.

Event Highlights

Under the leadership of Gala co-chairs Sharon Davis, Erica Min, and Koni Rich, along with Honorary Co-Chairs Bari Milken-Bernstein, Matilda Sung, and Jenny Danzi Elias, the event commenced with red carpet arrivals, sponsored by the Michael & Lori Milken Foundation and others. Guests indulged in cocktails and mocktails provided by Tamar & Wache Manoukian and Sacred River Wine, while enjoying live harp music performed by Anita Layton during the cocktail hour.

A silent auction, followed by a live auction conducted by auctioneer Jacqueline Towers-Perkins, added to the evening’s excitement. One of the highlights included the auction of a custom replica of Cinderella’s wedding ball gown.

Community Engagement

The funds raised during the Gala will support LAB’s Power of Performance (POP!) initiative, which has distributed over 60,000 free tickets to underserved community members since its inception in 2006. Additionally, the A Chance to Dance (ACTD) program offers monthly free dance instruction to children, taught by LAB’s professional dancers. These programs are vital to the mission of LAB, providing access to the arts for those who might not otherwise have the opportunity.

Accomplishments and Future Productions

LAB’s recent accolades highlight its increasing national recognition, particularly following positive reviews of Melissa Barak’s Memoryhouse from prestigious publications. The company’s upcoming production of Cinderella will feature the introduction of four seasonal fairies, each represented by intricate costumes, further enhancing the anticipated performance.

The evening also served to acknowledge the continued importance of local ballet representation as LAB aims for further national acclaim. Notable attendees included Sharon and Governor Gray Davis, Lesley Ann Warren, Joel Grey, Donna Mills, and various arts executives and directors.

Legacy of the Gala

Over the past decade, LAB’s Gala has established itself as a cherished event within Los Angeles, significantly bolstering critical funding for artistic programming and outreach efforts. By supporting performances throughout Los Angeles County, LAB continues to play a crucial role in maintaining the richness of the local dance scene.

As Los Angeles Ballet prepares for its future productions, including special events like SPACE ROCK OPERA and A Star Is Aborted during the Hollywood Fringe festival, the organization remains committed to its mission of artistic excellence and community engagement. The funds raised during this year’s Gala will be integral in sustaining these efforts and fostering a love for ballet and the arts throughout the region.
