Senior Pablo Ereño also had a strong showing, shooting 2-under 70, placing him tied for 6th. Freshman Baylor Larrabee completed the round at 1-under 71, tying for 10th place. The Bruins’ sophomore Luke Powell shot 1-over 73, ranking him tied for 31st, while junior Kyle An carded a score of 3-over 75, placing him tied for 55th.

Upcoming Rounds

Rounds two and three of the NCAA Auburn Regional are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. UCLA’s lineup consists of two seniors, one junior, one sophomore, and one freshman, with Trevor Garus as the substitute. The team plans to utilize Saturday’s practice round to refine its strategy and game plan for navigating the course effectively.

Background Information

Historically, the Bruins have a strong legacy in collegiate golf, having won two NCAA Championships in 1988 and 2008, along with five NCAA Regional Championships.

The tournament format includes six 54-hole regional competitions that are critical in determining which teams and individuals will qualify for the NCAA Championships. With the UCLA men’s golf team currently in a strong position after the first round, they will be focused on maintaining their momentum in the upcoming rounds to secure a place in the NCAA Championships.
