The weekend kicks off with LA Opera’s Celebración de las Artes on Sunday at The Music Center’s Jerry Moss Plaza. This free event will feature live musical performances from various artists and a vibrant artisan marketplace showcasing local crafts. Attendees can enjoy a selection of festive food and drinks from local vendors, making it a family-friendly outing. Metro access is available via the B or D Lines to Grand Park/Civic Center station or the A or E Lines to Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill station.

Also taking place on Sunday is the Museums of the Arroyo Day, providing free admission to six museums along the Arroyo Seco. The participating museums include The Gamble House, Heritage Square, LA Police Museum, Lummis Home, Pasadena Museum of History, and South Pasadena Historical Museum. This event runs from noon to 5 p.m., with the last admission at 4 p.m. Free shuttles will connect the museums for a convenient multi-location experience.

Downtown Santa Monica will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a lively event taking place from 3 to 6 p.m. on the 1200 block of the 3rd Street Promenade. Attendees can expect live entertainment paired with varied dining options available from local eateries.

For sci-fi enthusiasts, the May the 4th Be With You Party at Scum & Villainy Cantina in Hollywood is another exciting option. This themed event encourages fans to dress as their favorite Star Wars characters, featuring themed drinks, music, and enjoyable photo opportunities. A free waffle bar will be available until 10 a.m. for those purchasing cocktails. The event will also host a Star Wars trivia contest starting at 10 a.m., with another session later at 11 p.m. This gathering is free to attend and is open only to those 21 years and older.

Several additional activities are planned for the weekend. The Cinco Olvera Festival at Plaza Kiosko will begin at noon on May 4, featuring music, dance performances, and various booths. Smorgasburg LA will host a special “Miche de Mayo” celebration, showcasing micheladas, dance classes, and DJs.

On May 3, the Rose Bowl Stadium will also present a family-friendly Cinco de Mayo event. In addition, a Historical Venice Cinco de Mayo Parade & Festival will take place on the same date, further enriching the cultural offerings of the weekend.

In Elk Grove Village, School District 214 will showcase cultural representation with a student mariachi band and a folkloric dance group during this festive period.
